Keep reading to learn more about Map search, Scheduled Lives, 3-D avatars, and Personal profile grid. We&#8217;ve also included a few tips and tricks for boosting your engagement. After all, you probably spend a lot of time re-posting other accounts&#8217; content.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Map_search\"><\/span>Map search<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>In addition to highlighting popular tagged locations on Instagram, Map Search will allow users to post public posts that are tagged with their location. Like Google Maps Explore, Instagram Map Search will feature popular tagged locations. Users can narrow their search by city, category, hashtag, or location. In addition, Instagram will provide location-specific posts highlighting local businesses and events. However, it is not clear whether Map Search will extend to other markets.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, this feature is still in testing, only available to Instagram users in Australia and New Zealand. Instagram randomly selects user accounts to test new features, so we&#8217;re not sure when the feature will be rolled out to other countries. Once it rolls out, however, we&#8217;ll have a better idea of when this feature will be available to all users. We&#8217;ll know when Instagram begins rolling out its map feature in the US and Canada, which may be a few years off.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Scheduled_Lives\"><\/span>Scheduled Lives<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Instagram is launching a new feature for users to schedule Live posts. Scheduled Lives are scheduled events that you can create in advance. These events will have a title, date, and time associated with them. You can choose to receive reminders for each event. To schedule a Live event, go to the Scheduled Lives page and tap the plus icon in the upper right corner. Then select the option that says &#8220;add reminder.&#8221; Once you&#8217;ve scheduled a Live, Instagram will automatically add details for your event.<\/p>\n<p>Scheduled Lives are now available for global users. However, you&#8217;ll have to be logged in to your Instagram account to do so. In addition to this new feature, Instagram is working on a new practice mode for IG Live. This will let you test your connection and iron out any issues that may arise while streaming. The new feature also allows you to share news about your upcoming Live across Instagram. Another exciting new feature is the Practice Mode, which lets you test your lighting and connection before you broadcast.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"3-D_avatars\"><\/span>3-D avatars<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Instagram recently announced that users will be able to send 3-D avatars via direct messages and stories. In addition to offering the feature in DMs, Meta also announced that they are adding assistive items to avatars in an effort to make the platform more inclusive of those with disabilities. These changes are currently in testing in the United States and Canada. If they go as smoothly as the company hopes, the feature will be available to all users by 2022.<\/p>\n<p>With the introduction of 3D avatars in 2016, Twitter and Snapchat embraced the trend. Instagram is set to follow suit by offering 3-D avatars by 2022. It is expected that Instagram will offer custom avatars in the future, similar to the way Discord and Snapchat introduced them. But with Instagram users having more control over their avatars, there are many more benefits to using the new feature than simply changing the default avatars.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Personal_profile_grid\"><\/span>Personal profile grid<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>In 2022, the Personal profile grid will likely be back, but what will it look like? It&#8217;s a good question to ask yourself if you want to keep your Instagram aesthetic consistent. While we can&#8217;t predict exactly what will happen, we can guess that it will be different from what it looks like today. The good news is that the social network is working to bring back the chronological feed. In fact, it was just recently announced that they&#8217;re working to bring it back this year. Six years ago, the Instagram chronological feed was replaced by the algorithmically sorted feed.<\/p>\n<p>Instagram is also testing out the ability to move and edit photos and posts within the grid. Users can now drag and drop photos and posts to the places they want. Users can now add as many photos or posts as they want to their feeds, but it isn&#8217;t yet available to everyone. The next step for Instagram users is to determine what kind of content they want to share and who can see it. It&#8217;s currently only available to English-speaking users. Instagram plans to add other languages soon.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Instagrams_new_9_16_ratio\"><\/span>Instagram&#8217;s new 9:16 ratio<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>When we speak of aspect ratio, we mean the proportion between a picture&#8217;s height and width. It is measured in pixels and is expressed as numbers, where the first digit represents width and the second digit represents height. For example, 1080px by 16:16 means a picture&#8217;s width is twice as wide as its height. This change to Instagram&#8217;s size will allow users to post pictures and videos that are full-screen.<\/p>\n<p>While the change makes sense for desktop displays, there are some limitations for mobile users. For example, a square image on Instagram may look weird on a tablet. That&#8217;s where Instagram comes in. Instead of forcing users to crop their images to fit the square format, the company is allowing people to post full-size videos.
