While TikTok does not disclose its exact number of employees worldwide, LinkedIn reports that the company employs 4,566 people in offices across the world. In May, the company had 2,948 employees. It had begun looking for a global headquarters outside of China in April. While it&#8217;s still unclear whether the company will set up a permanent base in New York, it has plans to open an office in Silicon Valley.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Its_parent_company_ByteDance\"><\/span>Its parent company ByteDance<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>While the company&#8217;s Chinese parent ByteDance is based in Singapore, TikTok&#8217;s headquarters are in Beijing, the firm is still closely tied to the country. Discussions around the TikTok product often involve calls with ByteDance employees in Beijing. The company&#8217;s CEO, meanwhile, is based in Singapore. Although the company has faced political problems in China, ByteDance executives have maintained that they&#8217;re committed to a global company.<\/p>\n<p>The Chinese company recently underwent a massive move to expand its global presence. In China, ByteDance is known for being a &#8220;social media factory&#8221; and churns out apps for free. Its products have become household names, such as Douyin in China and Toutiao in the rest of the world. ByteDance also boasts a flat organizational structure and self-governing products.
