Twitter has struggled to attract and retain users, as its user base is disproportionately young. According to a recent report by Pew Research, 40% of US Twitter users are between the ages of 18 and 29. The use of Twitter decreases as a person gets older.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Number_of_active_users\"><\/span>Number of active users<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>According to recent statistics, Twitter will have 186 million active users by 2020, down from 139 million in 2019. This figure includes about 30 million mDAU (monetizable daily active users) in the US, which accounts for around 20% of all global mDAU. It is unclear what proportion of these users are active daily. The growth of other social media sites has increased the number of users. In fact, Twitter has more than 321 million monthly active users, according to some estimates.<\/p>\n<p>While this number seems high, the growth of Twitter has not met investor expectations, hovering around the single digits since early 2017. The social network has also struggled to attract and retain users. In the US, for example, 40% of users are millennials. As users age, their use of the site drops. And while women and young adults are active on the site, men are more likely to use it than women. According to Pew Research, the proportion of Twitter users in the US is declining.<\/p>\n<p>The number of monthly active users is similar to the number of monthly active users, but the daily active user count is much higher. In addition, the number of mobile users on Twitter has grown by ten million. Moreover, Twitter supports over 35 languages. Meanwhile, Facebook is more popular than Twitter, with 230 million monthly active users and more than 321 million daily active users. In September 2013, Facebook reported 728 million daily active users, with 1.19 billion total monthly active users.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Number_of_tweets_sent_daily\"><\/span>Number of tweets sent daily<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Thousands of people post on Twitter each day. But just how many of those are real people? A study conducted by Pear Analytics in August 2009 estimated that approximately 867 million tweets are sent daily, a staggering figure considering the popularity of the site. And with more people joining the site every day, this number will only increase. This statistic, however, can be misleading, as there are more than 361 billion tweets sent annually.<\/p>\n<p>According to Twitter&#8217;s data, the average user posts about three times a day. The vast majority of tweets are sent between six in the morning and 10 at night, with the peak time being 9 p.m. And even when these tweets are sent outside of these peak hours, a significant number is sent during off-peak times. As of January 2021, 867 million people in the world send tweets every day, with the number increasing to 361 billion by 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Statistics show that around 43% of US adults used Twitter before the recent ban. In 2013, the percentage increased to 52%. But this number only reflects a small percentage of the overall Twitter user base. Interestingly, only a quarter of US users compose almost all the platform&#8217;s content &#8211; making the overall active user base extremely active. This means that businesses can take advantage of Twitter&#8217;s inexpensive advertising opportunities and continue to grow their customer base.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Number_of_complaints_to_brands\"><\/span>Number of complaints to brands<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The 2020 National Consumer Rage Study tracks complaints across social media and digital platforms. In their data, the company Rave Reviews analyzed social media content to see which brands and companies were the most commonly complained about. It found that a large portion of complaints relate to unprofessional behavior, high prices, and unreliable service. Among the top brands on Twitter, Uber ranked first, with almost half of tweets being negative.<\/p>\n<p>The study found that seventy-three percent of brands ignore customer complaints on Twitter. However, seventy-three percent of users liked the way the brand responded to their tweets. That shows the power of a timely response. Twitter is a valuable channel to improve customer service. Responding quickly to complaints will help you gain trust from your followers.
