The CEO isn&#8217;t the only one who needs to change.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Elon_Musk\"><\/span>Elon Musk<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Elon Musk runs Twitter in a similar manner to Jeff Bezos, but there are some differences in their mission. While Jeff Bezos wants to return Americans to the moon, Elon Musk has his own vision for humanity, which will likely shape the Twitter experience. Both men are known for being relentless and following their own visions. Elon Musk, a billionaire and a tech pioneer, has been known to make snide comments about other people and events.<\/p>\n<p>The CEO of Tesla Motors, Elon Musk, has previously been accused of racism and racial discrimination in the workplace. Twitter employees, meanwhile, have accused him of using racial slurs in a tweet that resurfaced hate speech. The tweets were posted on Twitter on April 5, just days after Tesla CEO Elon Musk publicly criticized two of his top legal executives, causing a barrage of hate comments and accusations. Musk may not be happy with his management team or board, but he clearly does not feel comfortable with his employees. He did not return a request for comment.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Parag_Agrawal\"><\/span>Parag Agrawal<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Mike Masnick, who founded the technology news site Techdirt, advised Twitter on its efforts to decentralize its data. Agrawal is a native of Mumbai, India, where he studied computer science at the Indian Institute of Technology. He moved to the United States in 2005 to study computer science at Stanford University, where he joined a research group focused on database technologies &#8211; the software that allows computers to store large amounts of digital information.<\/p>\n<p>Twitter&#8217;s founder and CEO Jack Dorsey pushed Agrawal to work on developing artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities. Agrawal was hired to help Dorsey revamp the company&#8217;s infrastructure. During the transition, Agrawal envisioned a future based on decentralization and blockchain technology. Agrawal was chosen by Dorsey as his successor because he shares his vision for the social network.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Dorsey\"><\/span>Dorsey<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Jack Dorsey, the co-founder of Twitter, is leaving his role as CEO. The entrepreneur, who was also running Square, has said he will step down after his current term ends in late November. Dorsey reportedly asked Musk about the platform in January 2020, during which he promised to separate bots from real people. He also offered to purchase Twitter for $5 billion. While Twitter&#8217;s stock price jumped when news of Mr. Dorsey&#8217;s departure became public, the company was trading at a midday level below its value last week.<\/p>\n<p>The CEO of Twitter has been criticized for his work habits. For example, he rarely opens his laptop and doesn&#8217;t check his phone until he gets to work. He prefers to edit longer documents on his phone instead of his laptop. His office is across the street from each other, and he can zip from one to the other on foot. Although he hasn&#8217;t used a laptop in months, he does have his assistants edit long documents on his phone.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Dick_Costolo\"><\/span>Dick Costolo<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>For months, Costolo has been preparing to leave Twitter. He told board member Peter Currie that he wanted to step down, but in a way that didn&#8217;t negatively impact the company. Costolo took the job in late 2012 when his daughter was in sixth grade. By 2015, she would have started her senior year in high school, so he wanted to spend one last summer with her before she left for college.<\/p>\n<p>During that period, Twitter was constantly crashing, and it wasn&#8217;t monetizing its user base. It was confusing and difficult to use, particularly for new users. So it was no surprise when Costolo was promoted to CEO. A successful entrepreneur and CEO, Costolo had started three companies, including the company that would later become Twitter. While Twitter had a rough start, Costolo was able to turn the company around.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Derella\"><\/span>Derella<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Jack Dorsey, CEO of Square and Twitter CEO, is in Africa several months of the year. He has spoken out in favor of the use of Twitter by world leaders. However, Twitter&#8217;s updated policy draws red lines around what world leaders should and shouldn&#8217;t say on the social network. While it&#8217;s a violation to engage in political saber rattling, Twitter will put public interest interstitials before tweets by political leaders.<\/p>\n<p>The departure of Derella has been greeted with surprise by employees. Twitter is thankful to him for almost nine years of service. The company also wishes Personette well in her future endeavors. Derella will step aside from his role as CEO to allow Personette to take the helm of the company. She will report directly to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey. In recent years, Derella has focused on building out the Twitter sales organization and securing partnerships with media conglomerates around the world.
