A recent survey of beta testers revealed that they felt comfortable sharing their personal opinions and thoughts, because they knew their content would disappear. Here&#8217;s what you need to know. Read on to find out how Fleets will impact your social media strategy.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Tweets_that_disappear_after_24_hours\"><\/span>Tweets that disappear after 24 hours<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Twitter has added a new feature to its services called &#8220;Fleets,&#8221; which enable users to share a fleeting thought. Twitter says this feature will be rolled out globally in the coming days. However, this doesn&#8217;t mean that Twitter will stop encouraging outrage or directing large numbers of individual actions toward a single target. Users can still save and repost stupid posts, or criticize those that are deemed inappropriate.<\/p>\n<p>While Twitter fleets are mainly text, they can also contain GIFs and videos. These tweets are visible to followers, and users can reply via private direct messages. Users can even use emoji to reply to fleets. Snapchat first introduced disappearing messages in its app with &#8220;Snapchat Stories&#8221; and Instagram added this feature in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Twitter is also testing a feature similar to Instagram stories called Fleets. These stories, or tweets that disappear after 24 hours, can only be seen by direct messaging users. Fleets will be trialled in Brazil for the time being, but may be expanded in the future. Twitter is still working to improve its service and is cleaning out abuse and inappropriate content. There is still a long way to go before the feature is made available for everyone.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Similar_to_Snapchats_Story_feature\"><\/span>Similar to Snapchat&#8217;s Story feature<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Using ephemeral content like stories has become popular in recent years. Snapchat made this feature fashionable, and now every social media platform wants to follow suit. Twitter is currently testing a new feature, called Fleets, for its fleet messaging feature. The fleet format lets users post stories that disappear after 24 hours. In addition, users can send replies to messages posted in a fleet. Fleet replies are sent as a DM, so they are semi-private.<\/p>\n<p>The Twitter fleet feature, introduced in November 2020, was meant to rival the Snapchat and Instagram story features. The company hoped this would attract more users, but ultimately, it only attracted Twitter power users. The company eventually killed off the feature, replacing it with its Spaces feature, which will be available to all users starting Tuesday. Fleets was the company&#8217;s first attempt to expand beyond text-based updates, and was designed to mimic the Snapchat Story feature.<\/p>\n<p>Fleets are a similar feature to Snapchat, where users can post content that will disappear after 24 hours. Like the Snapchat Stories feature, Fleets appear in the top part of the app, but unlike Snapchat, these posts aren&#8217;t visible in the timeline. In fact, Fleets will only be available in Brazil, at least for now.
