Twitter requires an account with at least 6 months of activity before a user can be verified. Then, a user must wait 30 days before re-requesting verification. Upon denial, Twitter will send an email to the user explaining why it denied the application. Then, to be verified on Twitter, a journalist or news organization should reference their news org and link their Twitter profile to the official website.<\/p>\n<p>However, Twitter has not made the process as easy as it once was. It temporarily paused the application process in 2017, but reopened it in May 2022. The process was painfully glitchy, and it caused an uproar in the online community. You can now apply to become verified by going to your account settings and clicking &#8220;Request Verification&#8221;.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Requirements_for_verification\"><\/span>Requirements for verification<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>In order to become a verified user on Twitter, users will need to provide their email address and a picture. The email address and picture must be from a company or organization, with a domain that is relevant to their category. Users can only become verified if they have a current active Twitter account. Verification will not be granted to inactive accounts, or those that are not active or incomplete. You can check the list of ineligible Twitter accounts here.<\/p>\n<p>The new requirements for verification on Twitter will vary by category, but the basic criteria for verification will be the same for all users. Users will need to have a verified email address and a verified phone number to be able to interact with their followers. This means that they should have a verified phone number, or be part of an organization that regularly uses Twitter.
