The former is usually a direct reply, while the latter is a private message. In some cases, people use the &#8220;Retweet with comment&#8221; option to post a reply. Commenting on a tweet helps journalists and writers find new sources and opinions for articles and videos. The latter gives them more insight into subjects they are writing about than they would have otherwise found.<\/p>\n<p>When replying to a tweet, the recipient must follow you before their replies show up in their timeline. Similarly, the top tweets will only show comments that are more popular. However, not all people check the Mentions tab regularly. Therefore, it&#8217;s important to follow people on Twitter if you want to respond to their tweets. In some cases, people may not see their replies unless they follow them, which means that they will never see your reply.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"You_can_hide_a_reply\"><\/span>You can hide a reply<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>There&#8217;s a new way to reply to someone on Twitter. It allows you to hide a tweet in case you don&#8217;t want to reply directly. You can unhide your tweet anytime by clicking the reply icon on the upper right corner. It&#8217;s possible to read hidden tweets but others won&#8217;t be able to see them. You can also block users if you don&#8217;t want to receive replies from them. Twitter has announced that they will test the feature publicly in the coming months.<\/p>\n<p>The hidden reply feature was initially trialed in Canada, the U.S., and Japan. The results showed that most people used this feature to block off-topic and irrelevant replies. Twitter acknowledged that it needed to tweak the feature, but many users were hesitant to use it for fear of retaliation. Twitter has made it easy to do so. After you find a Tweet you like, click the connected arrows icon, which says &#8220;Retweet.&#8221; Choose the second option on the left, &#8220;Retweet with comment.&#8221; A dialogue box will pop up, allowing you to enter a comment. Afterwards, you can click &#8220;Retweet&#8221; to send your comment to your followers, as well as the original Tweet.<\/p>\n<p>Before you begin typing your comment, make sure to include a hashtag or two. If your comment is long, you can separate it from the hashtag or the RT symbol. You should only use up to three hashtags in a tweet. You can also add your comments to the end of the tweet. However, a recent update to Twitter&#8217;s app has made it possible to view retweets with comments on a tweet without opening its content.<\/p>\n<p>Retweets with comments have been around for quite some time, but Twitter has recently rolled out a new feature that allows you to view them as well. These comments are a separate thing than the original tweet, so you won&#8217;t be confused with one another.
