Additionally, you can hide your online status from specific contacts. This is the same as the desktop website, but only certain contacts will see your status. The good news is that anyone you block from seeing your status can still send you messages.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Setting_your_active_status_to_unavailable\"><\/span>Setting your active status to unavailable<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>You can control your Facebook active status using the mobile app or web browser. To access the Facebook settings, open the Facebook mobile app. On your phone, tap the hamburger menu icon at the bottom-right corner of the screen. Select &#8220;Settings &amp; Privacy.&#8221; Scroll down to &#8220;Active Status,&#8221; click the three-dot icon, and then select the option you want. If you want to change your Facebook active status back to &#8220;available,&#8221; click the switch next to &#8220;Status.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>To disable your active status, go to the Privacy section of your profile. Look for the toggle switch, and select &#8220;Hide My Status.&#8221; To hide your active status, click &#8220;Hide My Status.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Turning_off_the_Show_when_youre_active_option\"><\/span>Turning off the &#8220;Show when you&#8217;re active&#8221; option<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you&#8217;re tired of being in the online world all the time, you may want to turn off the &#8220;Show when you&#8217;re activity&#8221; option on Facebook to make it more private. To turn this off, go to the Settings section of the Facebook app, and tap on the three horizontal lines icon in the bottom-right corner. Here, you can toggle the &#8220;Active Status&#8221; switch off.<\/p>\n<p>First, open the Facebook app. In the upper-right corner, tap the menu icon. Click on the settings icon. From the list, select &#8220;Settings &amp; Privacy.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Muting_a_friend\"><\/span>Muting a friend<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Probably the most confusing thing about Facebook is how to mute a friend. Normally, people can see when someone is offline just by their activity. But sometimes, people will be unable to see who has muted them or when they haven&#8217;t posted in a while. Facebook&#8217;s mute function is designed to hide the person&#8217;s status from others, but this does not have to be the case. There are a few ways to tell whether a friend has muted you.<\/p>\n<p>You may suspect that your friend has been muted by checking their account log. You might notice that they&#8217;re not responding as fast as usual. To prove it, you can try sending them a message to their other accounts to confirm if they&#8217;re really offline. However, you should note that this tactic is not effective anymore. So, it is better to wait for someone to unmute you from their account before trying it.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Turning_off_videovoice_calls\"><\/span>Turning off video\/voice calls<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>In Facebook&#8217;s settings, you can turn off video and voice calls so that you will appear offline to other users. To do this, simply log in and click the &#8220;gear-shaped&#8221; icon. Once you&#8217;ve done this, you&#8217;ll see a new menu item that says &#8220;Actions.&#8221; You can choose which friends or contacts you want to appear offline to and how long they can see your status.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re using an iPhone, you can disable Facebook chat, which means that you&#8217;ll no longer appear in your friends&#8217; active tabs. If you&#8217;re using Android, you can appear offline in Messenger by clicking on your profile picture and selecting &#8220;Active Status.&#8221; From here, you can find an option that says &#8220;Show when you&#8217;re offline.&#8221; To deactivate this option, select it and then click Turn off to confirm your changes.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Blocking_a_friend_from_seeing_that_youre_online\"><\/span>Blocking a friend from seeing that you&#8217;re online<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you&#8217;ve accidentally blocked someone from seeing when you&#8217;re online, you can undo it by unblocking them. By blocking someone, you&#8217;re not allowing them to see your profile or messages. However, if you want to see their posts or see their messages, you must unblock them first. Facebook has a feature that allows you to do this. You can click on the &#8220;unblock&#8221; button and you can see whether they&#8217;re still online.<\/p>\n<p>There are several ways to undo blocking, but the most common ones are discussed below. Be aware that following the steps below may violate Facebook&#8217;s Terms of Service. If you do, Facebook may ban your main account, blacklist your identifiable information, or even disable your posting ability for 30 days. Whenever you accidentally block a friend from seeing your updates, you can undo the blocking by creating a new Facebook account and sending them a message.
