While deleting a Facebook message will permanently delete it from your account, it won&#8217;t remove it from other users&#8217; accounts.<\/p>\n<p>The first step in deleting Facebook messages is to add an extension to your browser. This extension will allow you to select the entire list of messages and delete them. Once you&#8217;ve installed the extension, click on Messages and select Delete All Messages. You can choose to delete all of them at once or select one at a time.<\/p>\n<p>Another way to permanently delete Facebook messages is to use the Undo feature. Facebook first teased the new feature in April. In November, the feature was leaked by mistake in the Messenger app&#8217;s update notes. The company had previously explained the delay by saying that it was for the privacy of their executives and to protect their trade secrets. In the meantime, other messaging apps such as WhatsApp and Instagram have been offering the feature for a while.<\/p>\n<p>However, there&#8217;s no time limit set for the unsend feature. Although, the longer you wait, the less likely it is that the recipient will see the message. Nevertheless, Facebook does allow you to report a message if you think the recipient might be abusing it. To find out if your message was ever seen by another person, you can view its history. If you&#8217;re worried about privacy, Facebook suggests using the &#8220;report message&#8221; option.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Delete_FB_chat_history_from_both_sides\"><\/span>Delete FB chat history from both sides<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you&#8217;d like to erase Facebook chat history from both sides of an exchange, you have several options. First, you can use the &#8220;Archive&#8221; option to clear out your inbox. To access this, tap the &#8220;gear&#8221; icon and click &#8220;Archive.&#8221; The conversation is moved to a new folder. You can then delete the conversation or move it to the trash. Obviously, deleting the conversation is the safest option if you want your privacy.<\/p>\n<p>Once you&#8217;ve completed the steps above, you can now delete the conversation from both sides. This feature will also remove any message you&#8217;ve sent or received in the last 10 minutes. Using this feature is quick and easy. All you need to do is open up the conversation in your Facebook Messenger, locate the message you&#8217;d like to delete, and hold it for three seconds. After that, you&#8217;ll see a pop-up message with a choice of how to delete it.<\/p>\n<p>You can also choose to archive the message. This option will remove the message from your device, but it will remain on the other&#8217;s. This way, if you send someone an incriminating message, you won&#8217;t have to worry about your conversation being deleted from their device.
