You can then set your friends list to be private to only those you&#8217;ve invited. Once you&#8217;ve done this, you can hide your profile from search engines. Finally, you can change the audience of previous posts.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Restricted_Lists_on_Facebook\"><\/span>Restricted Lists on Facebook<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Facebook allows you to make your posts more private if you&#8217;d like to. The privacy settings you choose will determine who can see what you post and who can see what your friends post. You can turn off the feature entirely or set it to only show certain friends certain posts. This way, your friends can&#8217;t see what you&#8217;re posting or send you friend requests. To make your posts more private, click the &#8220;Privacy&#8221; button in the left-hand menu.<\/p>\n<p>Once you&#8217;ve selected the option that best suits your preferences, click on the &#8220;Settings&#8221; button in the top left-hand corner. The fourth-from-top option is &#8220;Privacy.&#8221; Choose the &#8220;Only me&#8221; option to keep everything private. If you&#8217;d rather share your posts only with specific friends, you can choose &#8220;Friends except&#8230;&#8221; or &#8220;Only me.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Blocking_your_profile_from_showing_up_in_search_engines\"><\/span>Blocking your profile from showing up in search engines<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>One way to make sure that your Facebook profile does not show up in the search engine results is to block it. Facebook will display your profile in search engine results if it has publicly available information. To delist your profile from search engines, you can sign into Facebook and go to your Privacy settings. Here, you&#8217;ll find the &#8220;Edit&#8221; option and click on the blue &#8220;Edit&#8221; button. Once you&#8217;ve made your change, click &#8220;Close&#8221; and Facebook will no longer show your profile in search results.<\/p>\n<p>If you notice that your profile is blocked by someone, try evaluating your online behavior to figure out the reason for blocking them. For example, if you&#8217;ve made an effort to build a friendship with someone, you can ask them to deactivate their account. If they haven&#8217;t responded, you may have a valid reason for blocking them. However, if the situation is not that dire, you can try blocking them on a permanent basis.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Changing_the_audience_for_previous_posts\"><\/span>Changing the audience for previous posts<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you&#8217;ve made an error in deciding who to share your posts with on Facebook, changing the audience for your previous posts is a quick and easy way to fix the problem. In 2014, Facebook released an audience selector tool, but many users are still unsure how to use it. Facebook has many options when it comes to setting the audience for your posts, including public, specific friends, and lists. By default, Facebook uses the audience you selected for your latest post.<\/p>\n<p>First, navigate to the Settings &amp; Privacy menu in the upper-right corner of your Facebook screen. Click Privacy. You&#8217;ll find several options to change the audience of your previous posts, including &#8220;Friends&#8221; and &#8220;Public.&#8221; After selecting the audience, click Close to save your changes. You can choose to limit the audience for individual posts again later. You can also choose to limit your audience for your old posts to people who follow you outside of Facebook.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Limiting_the_number_of_people_allowed_to_friend_you\"><\/span>Limiting the number of people allowed to friend you<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>To avoid spamming other people&#8217;s accounts, limit the number of people who can friend you on Facebook. The maximum number of friends you can accept is 5,000. Anyone who receives a friend request after the limit is reached is ineligible to view it. To get back under the 5,000 limit, unfriend people you no longer want to be friends with. Facebook&#8217;s policies change with time, so you should consult them regularly.<\/p>\n<p>By limiting the number of people who can view your posts, you can prevent people from reading your private messages and posts. You can also limit your friend&#8217;s activity. You can also hide your friends list entirely. These are just a few ways to limit the number of people who can view your posts. If you have lots of friends, limit their activity to read what they&#8217;ve posted.
